1. 날씨: It's ~ outside, (isn't it?)

- It's gorgeous outside, isn't it? 날씨 정말 끝내주죠?

- It's chilly outside, isn't it? 날씨가 쌀쌀하죠?

- It's pouring outside, isn't it? 비가 엄청 쏟아지네요.

- It's pouring out there, isn't it? 밖에 비가 엄청 쏟아지고 있죠? 그쵸?

- It's cold outside 밖에 추워

- Put a coat on. It's freezing outside. 코트입어. 밖에 진짜 추워.

2. 처음 만났을 때 격한 환영: You must be (사람이름)

- You must be mike! 네가 마이크구나!

- Oh, you must be Alex. Yes I am. Hi, how are you?

* I've heard a lot about you. 말씀 많이 들었어요.

*~ speaks highly of you: ~가 당신에 대해 좋은 말을 하다.

- Mr.Kim speaks very highly of you.  Mr.Kim에게서 좋은 말씀 많이 들었어요.

*~ thinks highly of you: ~가 당신을 높게 평가해요.

- He thinks very highly of you.

- He obviously thinks very highly of you.

3. 간단한 칭찬: I like ~: ~가 맘에든다., ~suits you well: ~가 잘 어울린다.*cliché:클리셰/ 진부한/ 식상한

- Wow, I like your shirt! *shirt는 단수. Shirts는 콩글리쉬

- I like your hair. Hey, I really like your hair.

- Red suits you well. Blue suits you well. 격식을 차릴 때는 beautiful이 아니라. ~suit you well로 표현

- It suits so you well. 정말 잘 어울린다.

4. 개인적인 질문하기(나이/사는 곳/직업/결혼여부 등)

- If you don't mind me asking(캐쥬얼)=If you don't mind my asking(격식)

:이런 질문을 드려도 될지 모르겠지만

- If you don't mind me asking, are you married?

- If you don't mind me asking, do you live close?: 실례지만 가까이 사시나요?

*where do you live?(X): 동호수를 물어보는 느낌

- If you don't mind me asking, do you work close?

*close[kloʊz] v.닫다. close[kloʊs] adj. 가까운

- And where are you from Miss? If you don't mind me asking.

- What does he do if you don't mind me asking.

5. 'how' 이용해 근황 묻기: Did로 묻는 건 close-ended question. How는 Open-ended question

- How was your day? 오늘 하루 어땠어?

- How was your weekend? 주말 어땠어?

- How was your vacation? 휴가 어땠어?

- How's your family? 가족은 잘 지내?

- How's your project going?

- Hey dad, how was work today? 아빠 오늘 회사(일)는 어땠어요?

6. 약속/일정/계획 묻기: have plans?

- Do you have plans? (지인 과의) 약속있어? *appointment:전문가와의 상담 등 약속, meeting: 회의

- Do you have plans tomorrow?

- Do you have plans for christmas?

- Do you have plans tonight?

- Lemon, do you have plans for dinner tonight?
